Watches were of course at first pocket watches attached to a chain where they sat in a gentleman’s waist coat pocket. The first wrist watches came about by adapting a small or lady’s size pocket watch. Soldering lugs at the 12 and 6 side allowed a piece of leather to thread through meaning the pocket watch could be worn on the wrist. The wrist watch was born.
Leather watch straps have changed a lot over the years. Silverstone Vintage watch straps are a modern interpretation of early leather straps. Their design allows them to change and look more distressed with age. The visual stitching commemorates how original leather watch straps were improved in order to strengthen to stop fraying.
